The AG2R La Mondiale cycling team, a French professional road cycling team supported by sponsor AG2R for almost 20 years, has regularly maintained itself since 2005 at the highest level of the World Tour circuit.
Created in 1992 and headed by Vincent Lavenu, it was called the Chazal team in its early days, then Casino and AG2R Prévoyance. Cyclists Jaan Kirsipuu, Christophe Moreau, Jean-Christophe Péraud and others have made the history of this team.
This team is one of the most active in the mountains. Today, it is led by Romain Bardet who finished second in the 2016 Tour de France behind Christopher Froome, and third the following year. In 2018, he was vice-world champion on the road and won the classification of best climber of the Tour de France 2019.
In July 2020, the arrival of Citroën as a co-partner is announced. The team bears the name "AG2R Citroën Team" from January 2021. For the 2021 season, the team's historic leader Romain Bardet is leaving the formation, as are Alexis Vuillermoz, Pierre Latour and Silvan Dillier. AG2R Citroën is refocusing on one-day races with the arrival of Greg Van Avermaet and Bob Jungels to support Oliver Naesen. For its first season under this name, the team achieved 12 successes and finished 8th in the UCI world ranking, its best ranking since 2014.
