What is Mimic technology ?

The so-called Mimic technology, short for Biomimicry (biomimicry), has been installed on a range of Specialized saddles. Biomimicry, a design ethos, uses materials and structures that are moulded on biological entities.

MIMIC reduces pressure and provides both structural and anatomical support for soft tissue. At the nose, soft foam eliminates pressure. At the rear, firmer foam provides sit bone support. And in the cutout, soft memory foam delivers anatomical support to prevent soft tissue swelling.

1 / Which saddles are available with Mimic technology ?

In order to meet the anatomy and practice of each cyclist, MIMIC technology is available on various Specialized saddles : Power, Phenom and Romin Evo. All of these saddles are available in 3 widths : 143 mm, 155 mm and 168 mm and in different versions :

Summary table of saddles available with Mimic technology :

  • Comp - Hollow chromoly steel rails with carbon reinforced nylon composite shell
  • Expert - Hollow titanium rails with a carbon reinforced nylon composite shell
  • Pro - Hollow titanium rails with a carbon shell
  • S-Works - Carbon rails with a carbon shell

Mimic saddles provide additional comfort for women. The coccyx bones are well laid and supported. The design in 3 parts, more or less firm or with shape memory, brings specificity to the saddle by marrying and adapting to the female morphology. Each saddle has its own characteristics and specificities.

Power Mimic

The Power Mimic saddle has a short nose and a rather flat seat. It brings a release of pressure on the central part of the saddle and on the front of the perineum. This pressure is redistributed on the rear part of the saddle and the pressure on the ischial tuberosities is therefore significant. For competitors, the Power Mimic is also available in an S-Works version to gain few grams on the bike and a little more rigidity with carbon rails (170g, or 49g less compared to a Pro).

Romin Evo Mimic

The Romin Evo Mimic saddle offers a long nose, like the Phenom, but a more comprehensive seat surface, less frank pressure at the level of the ischial tuberosities but more distributed pressure over the entire seat. This saddle is ideal for the most aggressive positions. In addition, its more curved shape allows the pressure to be distributed even better over the entire saddle.

Phenom Mimic

The Phenom Mimic saddle takes up somewhat the rear part of the Power with its flat seat and its intermediate fin which facilitates the tilting of the pelvis in a large number of positions. The pressure at the level of the ischial tuberosities is still present but is distributed over a larger area thanks to a longer nose.
